Employees of an Oregon trucking company are pursuing Class Action grievances after the company shut abruptly without properly compensating them earlier this month.
TP Freight Lines based in Oregon notified employees of the closure and shut its doors on August 4th. The next day, the company failed to make payroll. Now, workers are filing unemployment insurance claims, and the Teamsters union that represented them is pursuing multiple Class Action grievances, wage theft claims, and more.
According to a Teamsters Press Release, when employees arrived at the Warrenton and Eugene, Oregon TP Freight Lines locations on the morning of August 4th, the locks had been changed and a lien had been placed on the properties.
The company was already reportedly behind on employee health care premiums and contributions to employee benefit accounts, leaving its employees without health insurance for more than a month prior to the closure.
TP Freight started operating in Oregon in 1922, and was sold to a California resident in June of 2025.
“The purported owner of T.P. Freight is Mohamed Hegab. It is not clear if Hegab has any experience running a trucking company, and he is claimed to be faculty at the California State University – Northridge,” the press release states.
