Teton pass was closed in both directions on Tuesday morning after snow fell at the summit overnight, creating slick conditions.
The Wyoming Department of Transportation issued a driver alert notifying residents of the closure due to “winter conditions and crashes westbound from Wilson to the Idaho state line” at 9:42 a.m. on October 27th. WYDOT announced the reopening of the pass only 30 minutes later at about 10:12 a.m.
According to Buckrail News, a trailer ban was imposed on the pass at about 11 p.m. on Monday night, and level 1 chain restrictions were issued on and off all night. By Tuesday morning, at least on semi truck got stuck trying to climb the pass, and multiple CMVs, including semi trucks and buses, were seen sliding in the roadway.
Four wheelers also struggled to climb the pass, and law enforcement instructed multiple motorists to turn around and drive back down, Jackson Hole News.
Teton Pass will officially be closed to tractor trailer traffic on November 15th.
