Log truck ordered out-of-service after Texas troopers find 23 violations

A log truck was taken off Texas roadways after a commercial vehicle inspection revealed nearly two dozen violations.

A log truck that “looked like any other truck on a Texas highway” was recently placed out-of-service for serious safety issues, according to an August 24 social media post shared by the Texas Department of Public Safety’s (TXDPS) North Texas Region.

After taking a closer look at the log truck during an inspection, TXDPS troopers located 23 violations, including five critical out-of-service violations.

Some of the violations uncovered by TXDPS inspectors include:

  • 7 missing lug nuts
  • An inoperable brake
  • Unsafe tire tread
  • Leaking air lines
  • Inoperative brake lights

“That’s why commercial vehicle inspections matter. What looks normal from a distance isn’t always safe up close,” officials said.

See TXDPS’s images of the equipment violations below.
