The United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is encouraging the public to report instances of fraud within the trucking industry by launching a tipline.
On September 9, 2026, the DHS agency U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) launched a tipline allowing concerned citizens to report commercial driver’s licenses (CDL) fraud to federal authorities.
The tipline phone number is 866-347-2423.
“Too many American lives have been lost or permanently changed because illegal aliens who have no business being on our roads have been granted CDLs,” said DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin. “ICE and our federal partners, including the Department of Transportation, will be cracking down on CDL fraud so that not one more American life is lost to a reckless illegal alien behind the wheel of a semi-truck. You can help save American lives and make our roads safer by dialing ICE’s new CDL fraud tipline today.”
Federal agencies including DHS and ICE have been increasingly focused on CDL enforcement in recent months. DHS detailed examples of recent CDL fraud enforcement actions, including:
- In August, DHS announced the launch of the Joint Task Force Crossroads of America, an interagency effort – including the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT), the White House Task Force to Eliminate Fraud, and the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) – to crack down on fraud in the trucking industry.
- In August, DHS announced the results of the second wave of Operation Highway Shield, a joint mission in partnership with DOT, targeting unqualified foreign truck drivers across the country. In just a three-day period, the operation removed more than 800 dangerous truckers from America’s roads, including 51 illegal aliens.
- In July, DHS and DOT announced a partnership to crack down on fraudulent and illegal practices in CDL schools across the country.
- In October 2025, ICE and the Oklahoma Highway Patrol conducted a three-day operation that arrested 120 illegal aliens on Oklahoma’s roads, including 91 who were operating commercial motor vehicles with CDLs.
