The Krugerville Police Department (KPD) arrested a truck driver and cited the vehicle’s owner for multiple offenses discovered during a traffic stop initiated for passing a school bus that was loading children.
The incident began when a semi truck passed a school bus with flashing red lights and an extended stop sign as children were actively getting on the bus in Krugerville, Texas.
KPD initiated a traffic stop and learned that the truck driver “was found to have no valid driver’s license of any kind, and was wanted on charges related to driving while intoxicated.”
The truck driver was ticketed for the school bus violation and placed under arrest for the warrant.
When the owner of the semi truck arrived on scene, police learned that he only possessed a commercial learner’s permit and therefore was not permitted to operate and retrieve the truck by himself.
KPD cited the truck’s owner for “hiring and permitting an unlicensed driver to operate a commercial motor vehicle, a violation carrying significant legal and safety implications.”
The semi truck was impounded.
“This incident highlights the critical importance of proper licensing, adherence to school bus safety laws, and responsible commercial vehicle operation—especially when the safety of children is put at risk,” KPD said.
