A truck driver hauling an oversized load has been fined nearly $44,000 after a crash with another semi truck revealed he had forged documents.
The accident happened on Route 318 in Barkhamsted, Connecticut on Friday, September 11th at around 7 p.m.
According to Greenwich Time, the tractor trailer was heading west on Route 318 when it crossed the double yellow line and sideswiped a semi truck traveling in the opposite direction. No one was seriously hurt, but both trucks needed to be towed from the scene.
Investigation of the incident revealed that the first tractor trailer sideswiped the second due to its oversized load. The driver with the oversized load was found to have a forged permit, an overweight and overheight load, failure to have tail lamps or illuminate rear license plates, failure to maintain lane, and several other citations.
The driver was cited a total of $43,989 for the incident.
