Brake failure is the suspected cause of a crash involving a concrete pump truck, a flatbed semi truck, and a pickup truck in Phoenix on Tuesday morning.
The accident happened at about 7 a.m. on September 15th on the Interstate 10 overpass at University Drive in Phoenix, Arizona.
According to ABC15, the concrete pump truck, flatbed semi truck hauling ceramic tiles, and a pickup truck all collided on the overpass, sending the concrete pump truck partially off of the overpass. The semi truck also struck a light pole at the nearby intersection.
“We heard a truck lost their brakes, blew through a light, it hit another diesel truck involved in a very bad accident here,” said Dustin Foote, a CDL holder who was a part of the cleanup crew clearing the incident.
“When a driver loses his brakes, there’s not much you can do. That’s why pre-trip inspections are very important. You want to check your brakes, make sure your airflow is good, you want to do a good pre-trip to avoid accidents and crashes like this,” Foote said.
No injuries were reported in the incident. Investigators have not specified which truck experienced suspected brake failure. No further information has been released.
