F-14 Tomcat aircraft hauled by semi truck from Florida to Colorado museum

An unusual oversized load has been making its way from Florida to a final destination in Pueblo, Colorado.

Iowa State Patrol

Aircraft relocation company Worldwide Aircraft Recovery is spearheading a major project to transport an F-14 Tomcat from from the National Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola, Florida, to its new home at the Pueblo Weisbrod Aircraft Museum in Pueblo, Colorado. Once it arrives, it will be restored and then placed on display to the public.

The F-14 Tomcat was made famous for its use in the movie Top Gun.

The plane is being transported a total of approximately 2,700 miles rather than the 1,300 miles between Pensacola and Pueblo because of route restrictions in various states, according to KHQA.

The oversized load was most recently in Iowa, where the Iowa State Patrol provided escort services.

Follow Worldwide Aircraft Recovery on social media to watch the aircraft complete its journey to Colorado.
