A truck driver is in custody after crashing his semi truck into another rig and chasing after traffic with a metal bar, all while blaming his boss.
Police were called to Interstate 24 east on Tuesday night, October 8th on reports of a tractor trailer crash near Nashville, Tennessee.
According to WSMV4, an officer arrived to find debris in the two left lanes of I-24, and two tractor trailers parked on the shoulder. The officer spoke with one truck driver who claimed the other driver struck his rig, and then headed over to the second driver to get his side of the story.
The second driver was seen outside of his truck cab holding a metal bar and using it to try to get passing vehicles to stop. Backup troopers were called, and the interstate was temporarily shut down to allow officers to get the truck driver into custody.
Once in custody, officers noted that 27-year-old truck driver Spencer Woods was acting strangely, and believed that the other drivers on the roadway were “after him.” Woods even claimed that a group of drivers tried to box him in so they could kill him. He told officers that his boss had tried to “set him up” and was the reason for the aggressive drivers.
Two other vehicles besides the second tractor trailer were hit in the incident. One of those motorists suffered minor injuries, while the third had to have their car towed due to damages.
Woods was transported to a hospital for a medical evaluation and was later booked on three counts of leaving the scene of a crash causing damage, evading arrest and disorderly conduct.
