Pilot to phase out paper hang tags for reserved parking in favor of digital check-in

Truck stop chain Pilot is moving the company’s reserved truck parking system to a digital experience so drivers will no longer be required to display a paper hang tag.

On August 26, 2026, Pilot announced updates to the company’s Prime Parking system, eliminating the need for drivers to enter the store in person to obtain a paper hang tag.

Instead, Prime Parking customers can use digital check-in to make a parking reservation, confirm the reservation, and then check in upon arrival at the travel center location.

“Digital check-in lets you confirm your arrival without leaving your truck, helping save time and making the process safer and more convenient,” the company said.

Truck drivers can access the digital check-in through the Pilot app, the Pilot website, guest services, or in-store at the register.

“During the reservation process, you’ll be asked to provide your truck license plate number. While this is not required, your license plate helps us identify your truck during a reservation. This improves safety and your overall parking experience,” Pilot said.
