Texas troopers find 1,935 violations during commercial vehicle blitz in Mentone


The Texas Department of Public Safety (TXDPS) uncovered nearly 2,000 violations during a commercial vehicle enforcement operation in Mentone.

On August 20, 2026, TXDPS released results from a recent compliance detail focusing commercial vehicles operating in the Mentone, Texas, area.

  • 351 Inspections
  • 1,935 Total Violations Issued — 5.5 per inspection
  • 167 Vehicles Out-of-Service — 47.5%
  • 34 Drivers Out-of-Service — 9.6%
  • 1,557 Equipment Violations
  • 138 Weight Violations — 46 citations
  • 97 Registration Violations
  • 57 FMCSR Driver Violations
  • 17 Hazmat Violations
  • 6 Oversize Violations
  • 4 CVSA Decals Issued

“These inspections help identify unsafe equipment, driver violations, and other conditions that can contribute to crashes and endanger everyone traveling on Texas roadways. Safety starts with compliance. Together, we can keep Texas roads safe,” said TXDPS.
