Construction of a large convenience store chain often referred to as “Bootleg Buc-ee’s” has been approved just down the interstate from Buc-ee’s newest location planned for the area.
Kerrville, Texas city council unanimously approved the authorization to construct of a The Texan truck stop and fuel station at the corner of Highway 16 North and Interstate 10, near Sidney Baker Street North on October 13th.
According to MySA, the chain serves up fresh-made food in a similar style to the Buc-ee’s food counter, has large expanses of fuel pumps, and keeps up clean bathrooms. However, The Texan is designed to accommodate semi trucks and other commercial vehicles, not ban them from ever entering the premises.
Buc-ee’s plans to start construction on a location about 35 miles away in Boerne, Texas, with a planned opening sometime in 2027.
It is unclear when The Texas will begin construction or open to the public, but The Texan developer Brian Dlugosch says that the development will be worth between $7 and $10 million when it’s completed.
