Massachusetts commercial vehicle troopers uncovered over 1,300 'serious' violations during 3-day operation

The Massachusetts State Police (MSP) Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Section (CVES) inspected hundreds of trucks and located more than 1,000 violations during a recent safe driving traffic detail.

From October 13 — 15, 2026, MSP took part in Operation Wicked Safe in partnership with State Police agencies from Connecticut, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island and Vermont.

Enforcement efforts were focused on Interstates 90, 91, 84, 93, 95 and 395, Route 146, and other priority roadways in cross-border areas for the purpose of targeting dangerous and distracted driving.

During the three-day operation, MSP CVES troopers inspected 577 commercial vehicles and located 1,307 “serious violations,” including “suspended operators, false logbooks, driving without a CDL license, operating without an ignition interlock device, controlled substances in a commercial motor vehicle, and brakes out of adjustment.”

MSP CVES troopers issued $72,230 in commercial vehicle fines during Operation Wicked Safe.

Additionally, MSP CVES troopers arrested three people during the detail.

“Getting dangerous drivers and hazardous commercial vehicles off our roadways helps to ensure each of us gets to our destination safely,” MSP said.

“Operation Wicked Safe sent a clear message that dangerous and distracted driving will not be tolerated on our roadways,” said MSP Colonel Geoffrey Noble. “Our Troopers see firsthand the risks created by excessive speed, distraction, impairment and reckless behavior. By coordinating our efforts with five neighboring agencies, we expanded our enforcement presence across state lines and reinforced our shared commitment to protecting everyone who travels our roads. While this operation focused on select dates, the State Police will continue to hold dangerous drivers accountable every day of the year.”
