Wisconsin police share video of multi-vehicle crash that resulted in 'multiple citations' for semi truck driver

The City of Monona Police Department (MOPD) shared dash cam video from a semi truck involved in a serious crash as a reminder of the dangers of distracted driving.

The dash cam video was captured on September 2, 2026, on the eastbound Beltline in Monona, Wisconsin.

Police said that the crash involved four vehicles including the semi truck. Multiple injuries were reported, including one individual who is listed in serious but stable condition.

MOPD said that semi truck driver Darin D. Oberhart, 58, of Iowa, was issued “multiple citations,” including Inattentive Driving and Too Fast for Conditions in a Work/Construction Zone.

Police also said that “based on our investigation and understanding of the applicable state statutes, the investigation does not currently support a criminal referral, despite the severity of the injuries involved.”

“MOPD is releasing dashcam video from the semi-tractor truck involved in the crash. We are sharing the video because we believe it’s an urgent reminder on just how quickly circumstances can change and the importance of paying attention and slowing down, especially in work zones,” the agency said.
