Louisiana CDL skills tester charged in fraud scheme

Chris Sequeira, a former third-party CDL skills tester in Louisiana, has been charged in the U.S. District Court of the Eastern District of Louisiana on three counts of making false entries in the state’s Commercial Skills Test Information Management System (CSTIMS), which is used to record skills test results.

The indictment alleged that in July 2024, Sequeira made three separate false entries in the system and said the three applicants “had passed a skills test meeting all requirements mandated by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration … for a CDL.”

The Department of Transportation Office of Inspector General (DOT-OIG) said the false entries were made “with the intent to impede the proper administration of DOT.”

The indictment did not offer additional details around the false test entries.

Car-haul driver rolls truck along I-40, admits to second intoxication-related crash

The Arizona Department of Public Safety recently responded to a rollover crash involving a car-haul tractor-trailer in which the driver was found to be four times over the legal limit for alcohol impairment for commercial drivers.

In the early morning hours of Oct. 18, Arizona Highway Patrol State Troopers responded to a rollover collision involving a car hauler on I-40 east of Flagstaff.

Troopers observed multiple signs of impairment with the driver and began field sobriety testing. The unnamed driver was unable to follow instructions of the test. A breathalyzer later revealed a blood alcohol concentration of 0.168 — more than four times the 0.04 legal limit for commercial drivers.

“The driver told Troopers this was the second time he had crashed a commercial vehicle while intoxicated,” AZDPS said. “Despite clear weather conditions, he claimed the truck had ‘slipped,’ leading to the collision.”

The rollover damaged all nine vehicles being transported on the hauler and destroyed more than 200 feet of Arizona Department of Transportation guardrail, police noted.

“In total, it is estimated to have caused approximately $500,000 in damage affecting 12 separate victims,” AZDPS said.

The driver was booked into the Coconino County Detention Facility on DUI charges, with felony criminal damage charges also submitted.

Wex OTR customers get access to AI agents to help in back-office

Fuel payments provider Wex has partnered with Euclid AI to bring AI agents to Wex Over-the-Road (OTR) customers with the goal of embedding agentic AI at scale across their businesses.

In production deployments, Euclid’s AI agents have enabled fleet managers to handle five to 10 times more work and have lowered cost per transaction by 80 to 90%, allowing carriers to scale without adding costs, Wex said.

“Our customers are looking for practical ways to take cost and complexity out of running a fleet, and AI agents built specifically for trucking are a significant step forward,” said Tim Hampton, senior vice president and general manager for the Wex OTR business. “Euclid AI builds agents for operations where carriers need it the most. This important collaboration extends how WEX supports carriers beyond our own products.”

Some of Euclid AI offerings embed agents into the following workflows:

  • Document processing — Read, extract, validate, and file the documents that drive trucking operations, such as bills of lading, proof of delivery, driver qualification, and compliance paperwork
  • Communications — Handle the calls, emails, and messages needed to keep loads, drivers, and customers aligned, including status updates, follow-ups, and document requests
  • End-to-end workflow — Run multi-step processes from start to finish, such as load documentation through billing or compliance renewals

“WEX is a respected and trusted brand in trucking, and Euclid AI is a leader in AI that fully automates carrier operations,” said Ahmad Kakar, CEO at Euclid AI. “We’ve already delivered major results for the largest carriers in the country. Together, we’re putting that same power in the hands of WEX OTR customers, and we’ll keep building on this collaboration to serve them even better over time.”

WEX OTR customers can learn more about Euclid by contacting their WEX sales representative or by visiting Euclid’s website.
