Indiana troopers located equipment violations as well as a child who was not properly secured during a recent commercial vehicle inspection in the Evansville area.
According to an October 29 statement from the Indiana State Police’s (ISP) Evansville District, Trooper Angermeier recently conducted a commercial vehicle inspection that uncovered “critical trailer safety violations.”
In addition to the equipment violations, Trooper Angermeier also spotted a two-year-old child sitting in the passenger seat of the commercial vehicle wearing only a lap safety belt.
“The child was not properly secured in an appropriate child safety seat,” ISP said.
The driver was cited and truck was placed out-of-service.
The commercial vehicle was parked in a safe location until proper repairs were completed and a compliant child safety seat was obtained.
“Whether you’re driving a passenger vehicle or a commercial truck, safety must always come first especially when children are involved,” ISP said.
