Authorities ask truckers for help catching escaped inmate who may have visited Illinois truck stop

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) put out a call for assistance from truck drivers in catching an escaped inmate.

On October 30, the TBI asked for help from truck drivers in locating escaped inmate Jacob Allen Morley, who was convicted of murder and was serving a life sentence in a Tennessee prison.

The TBI asked truck drivers who were at the Pilot Travel Center at 2611 Vernell Road in Marion, Illinois on Monday, October 26, between 5:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. to review any dash cam footage from that time for evidence of Morley.

The TBI is interested in speaking with anyone who:

  • Saw a person matching Jacob Morley’s description
  • Observed suspicious activity in or around the truck stop
  • Captured anything unusual on dash camera footage that morning

“Even if something seemed insignificant at the time, it could be a critical piece of information for investigators,” the TBI said.

A $17,500 reward is available for information leading to Morley’s capture.

Morley is described as approximately 6’0”, 240 – 270 lbs. with green eyes and brown hair.

The TBI said “Morley is considered dangerous and could be anywhere.”

Anyone with information is asked to call 1-800-TBI-FIND or 911 immediately.
