U.S. Border Patrol (USBP) put the brakes on a human smuggling attempt involving a car hauler passing through a Texas checkpoint.
On October 26, USBP detailed a recent human smuggling attempt that ended in federal charges for a truck driver.
Officials said that a car hauler entered a checkpoint in Laredo, Texas, hauling multiple vans.
USBP located 23 undocumented immigrants, including 6 unaccompanied minors, inside the vans on the trailer.
“The vans’ windows were closed with no air flow in the brutal South Texas heat,” the agency said.
The truck driver is facing federal charges for human smuggling.
The 23 people concealed in the vans face deportation.
“Human smuggling is dangerous, reckless, and puts innocent lives at risk,” USBP said.
