A truck driver was located using Flock cameras after failing to return a company semi truck following his job termination.
The theft occurred in Midland, Texas at the end of August. The driver and truck were not found until the end of September, when police located the rig in Georgia.
According to News West 9, 36-year-old Samuel Parker took possession of the truck in the 10000 block of West County Road 72 in Midland County, Texas while employed by Platinum West Corporation Inc. Parker was fired at the end of August while still in possession of the semi truck, and continued driving the truck without permission of the company. On August 28th, The GPS was removed from the rig and abandoned in Odessa, Texas.
On August 30th, the company sent texts to Parker, once again notifying him that he had been fired and was required to return the truck and did not have permission to operate for any reason other than returning it to the company. The company repeated the instructions on August 31st, giving Parker 10 days to return the truck.
Detectives then searched for the semi truck’s license plates using the Flock license plate reader system. By September 9th, the semi truck was located at Highway 44 and Interstate 20 in Georgia using the cameras.
On September 29th, the company reported that the truck had still not been returned, and estimated its value at around $52,000.
Parker was contacted by police, but hung up without speaking to them. He was eventually arrested and charged with a third degree felony of theft of property valued at $30,000 or more but less than $150,000. His bond was set at $100,000. No further information has been released.
